Las Vegas Spring Break Trip
In early March I went to Las Vegas with my mom and sister. My sister is getting married there in May of this year! We had to do our makeup and hair trial which turned out amazing, the girls did a good job! In true Emilie fashion, I had to bring at least one camera, I settled on my film camera and packed 2 rolls of 35mm Fujifilm. We decided to make the most of our mini vacation and visit the Valley of Fire State Park and Red Rock Canyons. Both were so beautiful, and it was a welcomed change from the busy Vegas vibe. We did all of the typical tourist attractions like walking the strip and visiting Fermont Street. The last time I was in Vegas, was almost 10 years ago. One thing that I thought was weird was there were so many families and kids running around, I don't remember that being a thing. The strip was a lot grosser than I remember too, it was sticky and smelt like alcohol and vape pens. 🤢
I was so thankful my mom booked a hotel off the strip. It was absolutely gorgeous and so relaxing, our little piece of paradise. It had some of the best restaurants I have ever been to, our first night we ate at Spiedini Ristorante, and I am not exaggerating when I say that I still dream of the gnocchi and cannoli we ate that night!
We got tickets to visit the Meow Wolf Omega Mart art installation which my sister and I loved, my mom on the other hand didn’t really get it but had fun tagging along with us. I’m excited to go back in May to celebrate my sister and her fiancé, but the older I get, the more I realize I like more mellow places to visit. I’m hoping to hit up some museums in May, I could care less about going back to the strip. The food wasn’t really that good and the drink prices were outrageous!
Even though Vegas is kind of gross and overwhelming, I do love the old buildings and walking through random casinos, and observing people. There’s always something to see, especially things you don’t want to ever see again. 😂
