Creative and Easy Christmas Photoshoot
Historically I am a huge Halloween photoshoot girl. Christmas photoshoots are not really my thing, but for some reason this year I was wanting to be festive and decided to do some creative Christmas self-portraits. Maybe it’s the snow or maybe it’s the Sabrina Claudio Christmas album that I’ve been playing on repeat, but I felt very inspired. Target had the hook-up with lots of cute Christmas options as props and I went to Hobby Lobby for green bulletin board paper to use as a backdrop (it’s only like $7 and they have tons of color options, so if you’re on a budget this is a great way to add a pop of color to your next photoshoot ).
This whole photoshoot was done in my room with a simple backdrop and some basic lighting. The look and vibe of the pictures would be really easy to duplicate if you wanted to try it yourself! I only spent around $25, this is such an affordable and fun idea! The only thing I didn’t buy was the color-changing light bulb that I borrowed from a friend.
I’m really proud and happy with how these festive self-portraits turned out! I love when the perfect hair, makeup, and photoshoot ideas come together so easily in my brain and then I get to bring them to life. The fun thing about self-portraits is that they can be whatever you want them to be. They’re an expression of yourself and that is really special.
My friends and I were my first photography subjects. I have portraits dating back to high school. It’s really neat to see myself over the years (and how much better at photography I have gotten). Every year you are growing and changing, and your style is evolving. It’s important to document these things to have something to look back on as you get older. It really makes you appreciate who you’ve become over the years. I hope that this blog and photos have inspired you to make your own Christmas self-portraits.
